Academy of Golden Gators ACADEMY OF GOLDEN GATORS – recognition event slated for March, 2016. -we are producing videos that will be shown prior to the announcement of each awardee. Videos are up to 3 minutes in length. LIFETIME VOLUNTEER: Linda and Ken McGurn INTERVIEWS for McGurn Video: · John Kraft, dean, Warrington College of Business · Doug Jones, director, Florida Museum of Natural History · Beth McCague, vice chair, UF Foundation Board THEME: Linda and Ken’s decades-long personal commitment to UF — through time and treasure — has helped shape it into one of the nation’s preeminent universities. Background: · Ken and Linda are UF alumni. Ken earned three UF business degrees — bachelor’s (1972), master’s (1973) and doctorate (1981) — and Linda a bachelor’s in business (1973) and Juris Doctorate (1978). · Through their McGurn Management Company (MMC) and other separate companies, the McGurns have been involved in the revitalization of downtown Gainesville since 1983. · The McGurns have received more than 50 local, state, regional and national awards, including a Sustainable Florida Initiative Award from Governor Bush and Gainesville Sun’s “50 People Who Made a Difference in North Central Florida Over the Last Century.” · The McGurns are active in job creation through their high-tech incubator in the downtown technology center. They have fostered would-be entrepreneurs since 1995, invest in start-up companies and provide mentoring. · The McGurns are civic leaders, active in UF and numerous community organizations. Linda is on the UF Foundation Board and Business Advisory Council. Ken is emeritus director of the Florida Museum of Natural History Board of Directors, is on the Business Advisory Council and is active in the Warrington College of Business Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. · The McGurns have invested more than $2.9 million in UF, mostly in the College of Business and Florida Museum of Natural History. · Ken and Linda were honored as Alumni of Distinction in 2012. Talking Points: · Ken and Linda’s leadership is helping UF reach its aspirations as a top public university. · The McGurns are committed to UF becoming a prominent national university, and are extremely generous with their time to advance that goal. · Ken and Linda’s commitment to UF has been consistent for decades, and their impact on the university and community is tremendous. · Their investment of time and treasure has been especially significant in the Warrington College of Business and Florida Museum of Natural History. · Ken and Linda are a strong believers in higher education and its positive effects on society. Because of that, they are vigorous advocates. · Ken and Linda are great Gators. Their leadership and dedication to UF have made it one of the nation’s preeminent universities.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
