no Completed   MFOS Grad Photos Graduating MFOS seniors! We’re updating the MFOS photos and need to get a group of scholars together (in their cap/gown/cords/etc). I’m hoping that you’d make yourself available on Wednesday, April 26th from 8:30-10:30am (meet at the ALBERT/ALBERTA STATUE outside of Emerson Alumni Hall – be on time!). We will have a professional photographer on hand to take some group and individual photos and I’ll share them with you afterwards. We will use these photos on the website, in publications, and in other forms of media to share the good word about MFOS for fundraising efforts. Please let me know if you’ll join us. Don’t forget to bring all of your graduation garb (cap, gown, etc) to the shoot! Oh and, if any of your family members happen to be in town, bring them too. When you reply to me letting me know you’re coming, please mention if you’re bringing any family members. https://ufodaa.box.com/s/ez9uoto57mylodgfojknsq5htmyml8wj 4 Photo Requests   Communications, UF Advancement

no Completed 06-17-2020 MFOS Leave Behind Mail Purpose: Mail piece (+ envelope) that DO’s will individually address and drop in the mail following a virtual meeting with a new prospect. Ideally, prospects will receive it a week after the virtual meeting. The piece is meant as a follow up and continued engagement. Qty requested: 100 Preferred date of completion: by 3rd week of June 2020 Look and feel: Short feature on a scholar (suggested: Sharod Farmer piece from Aug 2019) with a few data points about the Program. Ideally it could mention the plan to expand the program to 50 more scholars in Fall 2020. Total scholars since program’s 2006 inception: 5,100 (which includes the incoming freshmen class)! We’d like to request space on the piece for the DO to handwrite a little message like: So great to virtually meet you and I hope we can reconnect again soon. no Completed 09-15-2020 MFOS eNewsletter Similar to RISE - feature story, sub-story (1-3) multimedia section, headings and subheadings. Leslie/Chloe help compile the content for the outline in Internal Notes below - then Nicole to help with writing. SUGGESTED FEATURES FOR A TWICE-YEARLY MFOS NEWSLETTER DIRECTOR’S WELCOME (A short message from Leslie P, either video or written) WHERE ARE THEY NOW? (Get a new job? A promotion? Industry recognition? A wrap-up of short bits on who is doing what.) CATCHING UP WITH … Sally Pants (BS ’07), partner in the law firm of Wagner, Coats and Pants. (This is a place to spotlight successful alumni. Ask them to answer 20 quick questions – Nicole happy to write them -- and pick the best 10 to feature, or run them all if answers are short. Kind of Vanity Fair back page treatment.) PASSAGES (Photo driven: Weddings? Moves? New home? New babies or four-legged family members? Dream vacation? Share some snapshots to catch up with the MFOS family.) MFOS NOW (Meet XX current MFOS students from the Class of 2024. Little snapshots of who they are: where are they from, what are they studying, what was their reaction to the scholarship, other schools considered, what they wanted to be when they were 5/what they want to be now, etc.) ASK AN ALUM (Pose a light-hearted question on social media and share answers. Keep them UF focused -- favorite professor, favorite Gainesville hangout, best class; or more general -- best book read recently, currently bingeing on Netflix, go-to stress snack, best song you’re listening to, famous person from history you’d invite to dinner, whatever) OR (pose a serious question: career advice, advice for new MFOS students, best career advice ever received, …) WHY I GIVE (Highlight a donor or several recent donors. Short bio about who they are. What was their first gift to UF. Why this current gift? What were they doing then? What are they doing now?) SIGHTS AND SOUNDS Videos highlighting MFOS grads, students or the MFOS experience SCHOLARS IN THE NEWS (Link to stories of MFOS students or graduates who had coverage in the media) LOOKING AHEAD (Any MFOS events/campaigns, etc. on the horizon to promote?) eNewsletter to all MFOS alums/current scholars. Keep it light, fun and target younger group. Template similar to RISE - Leslie will send idea for "sections" then our team will take the lead in designing out the template. Possible addition - have "class notes" section along with "write us/tell us/etc" section online portal/link (Jason build?) Feature a donor and scholar https://ufodaa.app.box.com/folder/109642778857 16 Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program 07-01-2016 Finnerty, David
no Completed 04-23-2021 MFOS Mother's Day 2021 This will run as a slide show or photo package – short intro, photo(s) and beefy caption as the story – in the MFOS newsletter if we can land it in time, and also on social media on and around Mother’s Day. Jason can give guidance on the latter. Here are the MFOSers ID’ed as good subjects: * Mohamad Merilan who currently works on Wall Street in NYC. He’s originally from Orlando. * Khrysten Sears – MFOS alum who started at UF with an 18-month old baby. She is a speech-language teacher with the Palm Beach County School System, Belle Glade. * Faith Percival – MFOS alum and current Pharmacy student at UF. She and her mom spoke at a recent MFOS Leadership Council about the impact UF has had on their lives. * Betty (Hernandez) Miranda – MFOS alum. Attorney in Tampa currently; married with one-year old twins; Mom passed away unexpectedly immediately after she graduated; always been very close with her Abuela (grandmother). * Itzhak Nevati – MFOS alum. Lives in Denver works for KPNG, helps financially support his mom and younger sister. Aaron, looks like you already shot Faith and her mom (lovely!), but we need art of the others if possible. Aaron, can you please shoot or round up photos of the folks below (preferably with their mom/teacher/child – whatever supports their narrative)? Would also be nice to have a “then” shot for some variety, and especially if it makes sense with the story – the two who were in school together, for example. If they are local enough and you can shoot them, great, but some of them are out of state and they’ll need to send us something or we’ll need a freelancer. Obviously, I leave this up to you and Dave. David, can you please reach out to them and capture a little about who they are, but mostly what their mother or mother figure has meant to them, or, in the case of the student with the baby, what that experience was like. Tight and bright. These are not individual stories as much as heartstring-tugging copy blocks. When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
