    Third Annual Geology Fishing Tournament
04-28-2018
03-05-2018
Annual fundraising fishing tournament for the department.
Two prize categories have been established, one for the boat with the highest score and one for the individual angler with the biggest redfish. Proceeds support the UF Department of Geological Sciences.

Boat Award: Scores are tallied for each boat, not individual anglers. Eligible fish will include, if of sufficient legal (and in-slot) size: redfish, flounder, mangrove snapper, black sea bass, spotted sea trout, cobia, Spanish mackerel, and sheepshead. Fish can only be taken using hook and line. A boat’s score is calculated by adding the total inches (in length) of legal fish caught and dividing that sum by the number of anglers in the boat. For example, if four anglers in one boat catch 100 inches of fish, the boat's score will be 25 inches. If two or more boats have the same score, the award will go to the boat with the single longest fish. If two or more boats have the same score and the same size longest fish, the award will be divided between the boats.

Big Redfish Award: The individual angler that brings in the longest legal (in-slot) redfish wins this category. Size will be determined by length. If two or more fish have identical lengths, the award will go to the fish with the highest number of spots. If two or more fish have the same length and same number of spots, the award will be divided between the anglers.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
