ADVANCEMENT SPOTLIGHT
Lee-Ann Humenik
Lee-Ann Humenik has changed the face of UF. More specifically, she was the co-creator of our mascot Alberta, one of the most iconic faces in the Gator Nation.  Not only that, but she actually WAS Alberta at the mascot’s first appearance during a women’s basketball game.  When Lee-Ann joined UF she was involved in marketing and events for women’s athletics. Lee-Ann grew up on a working farm in Iowa. She was a high school athlete (basketball and track), and went on to study Physical Education and then Sports Informatics before moving to the Sunshine State.
Lee-Ann started her career in development with the Warrington College of Business, but quickly moved to Children’s Miracle Network.  She is the reason we have Dance Marathon at UF, and was also responsible for starting the program at FSU and UCF. Her love for development came from the connection she made with donors, particularly in pediatrics, and seeing how profoundly their lives were affected by the work being done at UF.  Her success with Children’s Miracle Network continued as she transitioned into a major gift officer role.  She still finds that the most important thing she can do is to listen to a prospect and match their interests to what is going on at UF. She tells our story in a way that deepens the connection between our donors, alumni, or friends, and the College of Medicine.  Her goal is to leave every contact feeling as if they are her only concern.  She focuses on stewardship and is sure to follow the golden rule.  When she talks about the donors in her portfolio, it is as if she is talking about dear friends.
Lee-Ann is generous with her experience and the wisdom she has gained over the years.  She participates as faculty for our LEAD Essentials program, and is energized by mentoring and encouraging her team members as their careers progress.
In addition to her work with UF Advancement, Lee-Ann is still leads and active life, although she has traded her running shoes for bicycle tires.  You will find her biking the area trails each weekend.  She is also fond of traveling, and particularly enjoys day hiking in our National Parks.  Bryce Canyon is a favorite.  We could not ask for a better role-model, team-player, or story-teller than Lee-Ann Humenik.

Colleagues,

I continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude and pride for the way every one of you have helped us navigate our unprecedented situation. Our organization is lucky to be built on the commitment, drive, flexibility and distinction that our teams demonstrate on a daily basis, and I can say with confidence that we are living our values of service, excellence, and team. Thank you again for helping us identify and build new pathways to success.

Thank you also for engaging with us in our first virtual All Staff meeting last week, and congratulations to our Service and R.A.I.S.E. award recipients! As I mentioned then, we will continue to support you in every way possible in the weeks to come.

With great admiration and sincere thanks,

Tom

[APR-24-20  4:42 PM  Anonymous] April:  Since Daye can't do our normal photoshoot, we've had a hard time getting a photo of Lee-Ann Humenik for the Advancement Spotlight article.  Lee-Ann finally sent one today that will work!  Please use LeeAnn3.jpg for that section, and still use her profile headshot for the RAISE award.  Thanks so much!

[MAY-05-20  8:28 PM  Anonymous] April: Please make the following edits

RAISE - replace the last sentence in the first paragraph with "Send these deserving winners your congratulations."

COVID-19 Resources -  first paragraph, second sentence should read "Fortunately, there are many resources available...”
Hyperlink the words “COVID-19 page” rather than “UF Advancement website”
Add an item to the bulleted list "Employee Assistance Program (EAP)" and hyperlink it to this site: https://eap.ufl.edu/

HAND Update - change the formatting of the times to 11:00AM - 12:00PM

Employee Engagement Survey Results - Please add the sentence "Please contact Melissa Long with any questions, concerns, or recommendations." and hyperlink Melissa's name with her email address (mlong@uff.ufl.edu)

UF Spotlight - Replace with the following copy

"It is well known that the Gator athletics program draws many people to UF, as was the case for Lee-Ann Humenik. Lee-Ann grew up on a working farm in Iowa. She was a high school athlete, playing basketball and running track, and then went on to study Physical Education. She held the position of Sports Information Director at the University of Iowa before moving to the Sunshine State.  When Lee-Ann joined UF she was involved in marketing and events for women’s athletics, and our athletic traditions have never been the same. [MAY-11-20  8:57 AM  Anonymous] April:  Please change the first sentence in the second paragraph of Tom's message to read:  Thank you also for engaging with us in our first virtual All Staff meeting last month, and congratulations to our Service and R.A.I.S.E. award recipients!

Also, please remove the quotation marks before and after the Advancement Spotlight story.

Those are the only changes needed.  When they are done, we are ready to send it out!  THANKS!

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
