[APR-29-19  6:04 PM  Anonymous] April:Message from Tom
Colleagues,
Congratulations to all for a very successful year on many fronts. Our Mid-Campaign Impact Report, our National Gator Day of Giving, and a number of important gifts for colleges and units across campus all highlight early successes for this fiscal year. With less than two months remaining, we still have a few things left to accomplish.
Thanks in advance for your steadfast commitment to advancing the University of Florida closer toward our aspiration of Top 5.  Best wishes in the weeks ahead, as we prepare to close FY 2019 in grand fashion.
As always, thanks for everything you do for the University of Florida and our students, faculty and staff.
Go Gators, Go Greater!
 Tom

ADVANCEMENT SPOTLIGHT
Mike Amish – Talent Management
The term “development,” in the world of Advancement, is all about fundraising. Mike Amish, Assistant Director of Talent Development, is focused on a different kind of development.  Mike is dedicated to conceiving, designing, and delivering world-class training to all of our employees.  He is the force behind our amazing Learning, Engaging, & Advancing in Development programs, better known as LEAD Orientation, LEAD Essentials, and LEAD Masters. Mike is also the creator of many of the Gator Institute Online (GIO) trainings, the new Top Ten Talks series, and he coordinates the Advancement-wide mentoring program.  Future plans include building out GIO to assist with training our alumni groups and board volunteers, and incorporating animation software to create micro-learning videos.
Our teams are better for his guidance using Strengths Finder, DiSC profiles, and the FISH! Philosophy customer service training. (For inquiring minds, Mike’s strengths are Connectedness, Futuristic, Ideation, Learner, and Maximizer; his DiSC profile is an iD). Utilizing the wealth of talent we have here at UF Advancement, Mike has been able to create professional development opportunities that are engaging, well-rounded, and well-vetted.  His efforts encourage the professional growth of our employees, while honing the presentation skills of our leaders and individual contributors. This creates a cohort of people who are prepared to showcase our organization to the world and elevate our global profile.
After a post-graduation hike of the Appalachian Trail, Mike started his career in training and instruction with Outward Bound.  He came to UF Advancement from his position as an instructional designer for UF Online, and also has experience with Sustain UF.  He has a love for nature, living “green,” and music.  You will often see him riding his bike to work, and might catch him at a weekend gig with his band, Bears and Lions.

Items in the new table are called:

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
