Project Description
Tom Mitchell to provide Mr. and Mrs. Earl Powell with fully designed impact report that highlights the accomplishments made possible by the Powell Chair in Gene Therapy and the accompanying Powell Gene Therapy Fund. The primary purpose of the report is to assure Mr. Powell of the impact the funds are having, despite the significant decreased valuation of original gift and to ease Mr. Powell’s frustration regarding UF’s proactive communication regarding the funds. Follow theme of the “ripple effect” – demonstrate impact of gift from Dean – Holder – Grad Students – Undergrad Students – Test Trials/Patients – Academic Peers – External Funding Orgs, etc. Heavy use of photos, including Dr. Byrne, graduate students, physical lab space, test trials/patient interaction (if available) – focus on action/interaction and not simply head shots “Impact by the Numbers” - inclusion of infographics related to research, teaching and grant funding, such as: # and $ of scholarships/fellowships awarded via Powell funds, % increase in grant funding, # and % increase in student enrollment/graduate fellow placement, equipment enhancements/purchases and notable faculty additions Quotes/testimonies from Dr. Byrne and department leadership Quotes from research assistants or grad students regarding impact of lab/scholarships on their degrees/UF experience

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
