Project Description

1. Demonstrate how Griffin’s $5M gift is being leveraged to generate additional support and partnerships 2. Show the program’s statewide reach and impact 3. Highlight key wins and accomplishments 4. Set the scene for next—a transformational naming gift.

From Matt Coleman:

Circling back on this project. I’ve worked with the faculty lead, Maya Israel, and her team to organize a large portion of the data needed to put together graphics demonstrating the impact of UF’s computer science education initiative. As I laid out in the project proposal document, our goal here is to create multi-purpose graphics that can be used as part of a donor-focused leadership presentation directed at Ken Griffin. Following that, Dr. Israel would like to work with her college’s comms team to repurpose these graphics for social media, website presentation and other external mediums.

We have enough to get started on at least the first two graphics now. Is there a designer I can connect with to walk through the project scope and details? I’ve included the collaborative Google project outline that I created with the faculty, but it’d be easier for me to help interpret for whoever is assigned.

As discussed, here’s that Google doc that provides my project outline and incorporates feedback from faculty:

Here’s their initiative website. As you can tell, it’s probably not very brand-adherent:

And here’s the presentation they put together for a previous donor meeting. They tried to tie it in to the brand they created, but it’s still not very UF:

[MAY-26-23 Jason Phenicie] From Matt Coleman:
I connected with Dr. Israel today, and she’s working with her team to flesh out the last three content blocks for graphics. In the interest of keeping the work parallel, I’ll suggest holding off on design for the first two section of graphics until the final three are ready. She will alert me once she’s provided her final content—I’ll review, refine and send to Rob after. I’d anticipate that coming through within the next week or two.

Rob sent Matt draft power point. Tue 6/6/2023 3:04 PM; Per Matt he has an email out with faculty and will review and get back with Rob.

Per Matt: struggling to get the faculty to reengage with this after the first round of graphics. I think we should use what you’ve created to date and continue building on it

-- [JUL-18-23 Yasmin Williams] --------------
Matt: meeting with the faculty today for a review session and will compile feedback. I’ll make sure to connect with Rob when he’s back in the office to share that information.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.

Read more about converting a column into a table.
