Project Description
The GC handbook is currently a 60-page Word doc. They'd like to condense it and have something designed with a similar look  to the board intro brochure (but probably longer). It would be great to introduce the new Gator Club branding with this piece. Execution will be fully digital (their current thought is to present the PDF in an Issuu-style format).

Carre is finishing up the edits for the handbook and will have  them to the team by Monday to review.  I see it currently says parked so wasn’t sure about next steps?

Carre: Attached is the content for the Gator Club® and Affiliate Group handbook.  I’m happy to jump on a meeting to discuss any questions you might have about the project.  There are a few changes that will be made to the content as there are some pending changes to the email system and some updates needed to treasurer/financial management based on some situations that happened at the end of last fiscal year.

We are scheduled to meet on 11/29 at 11 to go over the edits. We will renegotiate the timeline during that meeting so we can complete this project.

Carre will revise and reorder the copy and send to SCME by Friday, 12/1. Need to add more design elements and photos throughout similar to the UFAA board manual. Remove the Gator Club logo pages (these will be used in a future Gator Club style guide). Carre is also finding at least two members to feature and will send that information by Dec. 11.  The goal is to have 85% of this completed before winter break with space reserved for photos of featured members.

Carre: Attached is the revised content for the handbook.  Because all I have is the pdf version of the laid out handbook, I updated the content in a word document as there were a couple of areas of significant content additions.  I’ll work through the handbook next week for places we can drop in “flair” (pictures, pull quotes, etc.) as we discussed on Wednesday and send an update.

Attached is the content for the handbook with notations for where graphics can be inserted.  Due to the size of the graphics, I put everything in my transfer drive (here - I:\Carre Saunders\Gator Club Handbook Revision).  There are supporting photos for events and scholarship recipients that can be used where noted.  I provided a lot of samples and leave it to the artist to select what you feel works best with the content.  I also included the previous UFAA BOD handbook for samples as to content I would like to replicate in our handbook as noted.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
